IMPACT OF OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE ON PERIODONTAL HEALTH AND ANTIOXIDANT LEVELS AMONG DIESEL GENERATOR WORKERS

Abstract

Occupational exposure to diesel generator emissions poses significant health risks, including potential impacts on periodontal health and antioxidant levels. This study aims to assess the periodontal health status and antioxidant levels among diesel generator workers compared to a control group with no such exposure. A cross-sectional analysis was conducted involving 100 diesel generator workers and 100 control subjects. Periodontal health was evaluated using clinical parameters such as plaque index, gingival index, probing depth, and clinical attachment loss. Antioxidant levels were measured using blood samples to assess total antioxidant capacity (TAC) and specific antioxidants like superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GPx).
